Donate to a Good Cause!

Below is a list of charities or non-profit organizations with meaningful missions and impactful work along with reputable operating strategies, many of which we donate to ourselves, that we recommend to our customers who wish to increase their positive impact on the planet and their communities.

We know donating can be hard sometimes, unless maybe it's rounding up at the checkout lane, but we congratulate you for coming this far and we've got your back!

We donate to many different charities that support a variety of environmental and social issues, including environmental education and awareness, preservation and reforesting, as well as environmental and racial injustice. Last year we donated over 10% of our profits! We start at the source-- we stay away from putting most of our money towards carbon capture like most big companies who hope rapidly advancing technology will save them as they continue polluting the planet. We place the grand majority of our support in environmental charities who look at the true causes of environmental degradation and aim to prevent them, as well as building up and protecting our planet's natural carbon sequestering systems like wetlands and rainforests.

Thank you in advance for putting your money where your mouth is alongside us, and just remember that anything helps!

Organizations We Have Donated To:

 Union of Concerned Scientists

setting-sun-turbine2.jpeg

"The Union of Concerned Scientists is a national nonprofit organization founded more than 50 years ago by scientists and students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Our mission [is] to use rigorous, independent science to solve our planet's most pressing problems. Joining with people across the country, we combine technical analysis and effective advocacy to create innovative, practical solutions for a healthy, safe, and sustainable future. Today, we are a group of nearly 250 scientists, analysts, policy experts and strategic communicators dedicated to that purpose. Our founders knew science and evidence-based decision making was critical to solving many of the biggest challenges facing humankind. To make progress we would need to work persistently in the face of often daunting odds. That's just what we’ve done.

  • We combat climate change and seek to alleviate harm caused by the heat, sea level rise, and other consequences of runaway emissions,
  • We strive to develop sustainable ways to feed, power, and transport ourselves,
  • We work to reduce the existential threat of nuclear war,
  • We fight back when powerful corporations or special interests mislead the public on science, and
  • We ensure our solutions advance racial and economic equity."

Oceana

oceana.jpg

"Oceana seeks to make our oceans more biodiverse and abundant by winning policy victories in the countries that govern much of the world’s marine life. Oceana, founded in 2001, is the largest international advocacy organization focused solely on ocean conservation. Our offices around the world work together to win strategic, directed campaigns that achieve measurable outcomes that will help make our oceans more bio diverse and abundant. Oceans cover 71 percent of the globe, and they are as important to us as they are vast. Our oceans are home to most of the life on our planet and play a central role in the world’s natural systems, like regulating our climate and absorbing carbon dioxide. They provide livelihoods to countless fishermen and others around the world. They also feed hundreds of millions of people and have the capacity to provide a healthy seafood meal to a billion people, every day. Unfortunately, the oceans are in trouble — scientists report that the amount of fish caught from the oceans began declining — for the first time in recorded history — just a few decades ago. Fortunately, we know how to fix things. Science-based fishery management — which establishes science-based catch limits, reduces bycatch and protects habitat — is helping the oceans rebound and recover where it is established. Oceana is dedicated to advocating for science-based fishery management and restoring the world’s oceans."

1% for the Planet

"It all started when two businessmen met and bonded over their shared love for the outdoors. Realizing their responsibility to protect our planet, they decided to give 1% of their sales back to the environment—whether or not they were profitable. In 2002, Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies, created 1% for the Planet and started a global movement. We connect our members with high-impact environmental partners that align with their values and add to their brand story. Today, we have more than 5,000 members coming together to protect the future of our planet.

'The intent of 1% for the Planet is to help fund these diverse environmental organizations so that collectively they can be a more powerful source in solving the world’s problems.' -Yvon Choulnard"

Ethos Farm Project

"Ethos Farm is a National Historic Landmark in Long Valley, New Jersey, operating in partnership with the New Jersey Audubon Society, U.S Fish and Wildlife Service, and Natural Resources Conservation Service. Our 342-acre farm in New Jersey has been in operation for over 275 years and boasts forests with deep, clear-running springs that pour into Raritan River – a source of drinking water in New Jersey, for 1.5 million people. Our farm also is a sanctuary for wildlife in New Jersey, including a number of rare and endangered species – like the native wild brook trout, which was thought to be extinct until just a few years ago.

Rather than using a specific chemical to kill a crop disease or pest, Ethos Farm in New Jersey focuses on analyzing the inadequacy or weakness that brought about the problem in the first place, then works to remedy the cause.  The local wildlife that lives in our forests, fields, and wetlands – birds, insects, bees, and bats – additionally do the work of eliminating pests and pollinating our crops. As we keep our lands healthy, they keep our farm healthy, in a never-ending loop of wellness.  We do our part in cultivating this health, by utilizing the following regenerative methods: Cover crops, composting, meadow restoration, warm season grasses, and forest stewardship."

Carbon Lighthouse Association

"The Carbon Lighthouse Association (CLA) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to helping companies and individuals offset their emissions by taking away some of the fossil fuel industry’s ability to pollute. A revolutionary alternative to carbon offsets, CLA reduces the number of government-regulated pollution allowances on behalf of our donors. By sourcing carbon allowances directly from cap and trade programs, CLA provides our partners with the highest assurance that their investment results in real emissions reductions."

"[The CLA] was founded to offer customers a more impactful alternative to the offset market. Instead of providing offsets, we reduce the amount that entities can pollute by purchasing carbon allowances from the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative’s cap and trade auctions and holding them indefinitely. Each allowance we purchase has a traceable serial number, is verified by state governments, and creates a legally-binding requirement for power plants and utilities in the United States to emit one fewer ton of CO2. By aggregating demand for carbon allowances, the Carbon Lighthouse Association enables companies and individuals to bid against utilities, power plants and other regulated entities for the limited supply of available allowances. Once that allowance is purchased by CLA, it cannot be used by a power plant to emit carbon dioxide. This strategy drives direct emissions reductions while also shifting the structural incentives perpetuating the fossil-fuel based market economy. Learn more about carbon markets here."

Squiers Point Historians

enhanced-photo-church.png

"Squiers Point Historians is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation whose mission is to preserve, maintain and improve historical structures and artifacts in Lebanon Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey. Our members strive to share our knowledge with the public while instilling a sense of community pride."

"Squiers Point was originally incorporated in 1979 by a group of residents who were instrumental in preserving the abandoned one-room schoolhouse at New Hampton and transforming it into the Lebanon Township Museum. Squiers Point takes its name from the iron furnace that was established by the sons of Governor Reading in the mid-1700s along the Musconetcong River in the northwest part of Lebanon Township. In 2018, Squiers Point funded an addition to the Lebanon Township Museum that brought indoor plumbing, new heating and air conditioning to the building. In 2020, Squiers Point made possible the restoration of an historic horse-drawn sled donated by the Polt family. Additionally, they provided the funds for the Carriage Shed Museum Annex to house the restored sled and expand the museum's exhibit space. In 2022, Squiers Point purchased the Mt. Lebanon Church with the intention of restoring the circa 1844 stone building and preserving the graveyard. An Historic Preservation Plan commissioned in 2021 serves as a road map for revitalizing the property for future use by the community while preserving its meaningful history."

We ACT for Environmental Justice

members-albany-640x230.jpg

"One of the first environmental organizations in New York State to be run by people of color, and the first environmental justice organization in New York City, WE ACT for Environmental Justice was founded and incorporated in 1988 as the result of local community struggles around environmental threats and resulting health disparities created by institutionalized racism and the lack of social and political capital, all dynamics that led to the siting and poor management of the North River Sewage Treatment Plant, the siting and operation of 6 out of 7 New York City diesel bus depots in Northern Manhattan, the operation in our community of the only 24-hour Marine Transfer Station in Manhattan, the use of Northern Manhattan communities as New York City's dumping ground, and the exclusion of communities of color from democratic decision-making."

-Charity Navigator, rated 96.59/100.

"WE ACT’s mission is to build healthy communities by ensuring that people of color and/or low income residents participate meaningfully in the creation of sound and fair environmental health and protection policies and practices. WE ACT envisions a community that has:

  • informed and engaged residents who participate fully in decision-making on key issues that impact their health and community.
  • strong and equal environmental protections.
  • increased environmental health through community-based participatory research and evidence-based campaigns."

"WildAid's mission is to end the illegal wildlife trade in our lifetimes. WildAid works to reduce the demand for illegal wildlife products, and to promote energy conservation, via global public awareness campaigns. WildAid also strives to create model field conservation programs and to strengthen marine protected areas around the world."

-Charity Navigator, rated 96.48/100.

"The illegal wildlife trade is a multi-billion dollar global industry largely driven by consumer demand in expanding economies. While most wildlife conservation groups focus on scientific studies and anti-poaching efforts, WildAid works to reduce global consumption of wildlife products and to increase local support for conservation efforts. We also work with governments and partners to protect fragile marine reserves from illegal fishing and shark finning, to enhance public and political will for anti-poaching efforts, and to reduce climate change impacts."

The Wetlands Initiative

dixon-refuge.png

"Our Vision: A world with plentiful healthy wetlands improving water quality, climate, biodiversity, and human well-being.

Our Mission: The Wetlands Initiative designs, restores, and creates wetlands. We innovate, collaborate, and employ sound science to improve water quality, habitat for plants and wildlife, and our climate.

Wetlands provide an array of valuable “services” for society and the environment. Besides sustaining a huge number of plant and animal species, they can improve water quality; reduce erosion and flooding; and even moderate the effects of climate change. Not to mention they’re often beautiful places for people to hike, paddle, birdwatch, and otherwise enjoy the outdoors. Looked at from the perspective of what they do, the value of wetlands becomes quite tangible and in some cases quantifiable. For the past two centuries, the value of wetlands has been little regarded as they have been drained, leveed, channelized, or destroyed in other ways to make way for farms, homes, cities, and industry. Significant loss of wetland ecosystems has resulted in the decline of many species, worsening water quality including “dead zones” in the Gulf of Mexico and elsewhere, more flood damage, and other costly problems. By restoring the Midwest’s lost wetlands, it is possible to reverse these trends and even stimulate markets for their valuable ecosystem services.

The Wetlands Initiative combines two basic strategies in its work: on-the-ground restoration of wetland landscapes both independently and in partnership with other organizations, and innovation of ways to promote and finance large-scale wetland restoration by others."

Amazon Conservation Team

06-indi-wasi-600x400.jpg

"The Amazon is the world’s greatest rainforest, but it's being destroyed faster than ever. If this continues, further indigenous peoples will be robbed of their territory and catastrophic levels of carbon will enter the atmosphere. Do you want this future? ACT co-creates new conservation models with the people of Amazonia. We protect the forest, ensure its peoples' cultural survival and well-being, and promote indigenous land rights and self-determination. Let’s reimagine and restore the future.

Hand-in-hand with indigenous and other local people, we apply the power of innovation and time-tested traditional practices to protect the forests and watersheds of tropical America. We believe that the survival of the forest depends on the fate of its guardians. We protect both. For a forest to survive and thrive, it needs biological diversity, clean and abundant water, and large stretches of connected lands. For the guardians to be healthy, they need not only basic things such as food, water, and medicine, but also security and stability. Self-determination and strong traditional cultures allow forest people to flourish and protect their lands. Our efforts begin in the field. We ask our partners what they want, what they need, and what they envision for their future. They identify which lands are most important to them, and they tell us what they need to protect them. From these discussions, we develop strategic courses of action - what we call initiatives - that lead us together towards our goals."
